A part of the Welsh Housing Quality Standard covers energy efficiency. This includes making sure that all properties have an energy assessment which calculates how much energy a property uses, and the amont of carbon dioxide emitted.
Some of the works carried out to achieve energy efficiency could include:
- double glazed windows and doors
- reasonably economical heating systems
- insulated hot water tanks
- lagged pipes and tanks in the roof where applicable
- insulated lofts
Cardiff Council was pleased to announce that they attained the Welsh Housing Quality Standard in late 2012.
Remember - you may also be able to reduce your bills and save energy by making small changes to the way you live. So be 'green' and save!
