Information - Areas of Cardiff - South Butetown

Area profile

Butetown is located immediately to the south of the city centre and provides a mix of socially rented (approximately 19%) and privately owned properties. The Council-owned accommodation was built in the 1960s and 1980s and includes both flats and family houses. The area is close to the Cardiff Bay Mermaid Quay development of shops and restaurants and has good bus and rail links.

Work is due to start in 2010 on the regeneration of Loudoun Square in Butetown to include health and community facilities, shops and family housing.
