Approximately 3 miles north of the city centre much of the housing in the Heath is privately owned (approximately 97%) and was built in the 1920s - 50s. The most well known landmark is the University Hospital of Wales (known locally as the Heath Hospital).

Other facilities include Heath Park (including tennis courts, sports pitches, 'pitch and putt' golf, a playground and a miniature railway line), allotments and local shops.
